Our Slack Forum
What happens in Slack? We use this community forum to get feedback and advice on our gardening (inner, home, and world!) from Corva and the other group members, keep in touch between Saturday Sessions, participate in prompts to stay accountable, and share our celebrations with each other. And you can stay in Slack after you graduate if you wish!
- You’ll need to download the slack app on your computer (and your phone if you like). It’s really pretty easy, and directions are in the next step ⬇️ We recommend putting it in your dock, so that you can see it and see if there are new posts. Just download the app, and when prompted to ‘create a Slack workspace’ create one under your name (or a name of your choosing), but not ‘Tree School’.
- Here's how to download the app to your desktop: Visit slack.com/downloads. Click Download. Once the download is complete, double-click the file (called SlackSetup.exe). Slack will launch automatically once installed.
- You’ll receive an invite from Maria: Within a day or two of enrolling in Tree School and receiving your Welcome Email from Corva, you’ll receive another email – this time from Maria McCullough, the assistant teacher of the Mentorship, inviting you to the TREE SCHOOL online Slack community. Just click the link in the email you get from Maria, and you’ll be welcomed into our Slack space!
- Maria is the Slack Assistant and is here to help you with all things Slack, from downloading the app, to getting into our space, to troubleshooting and learning how to use it. Please reach out to them at mariaannemccullough@gmail.com and they will joyfully be at your service!
Here’s a short article about the most important aspect of Slack, channels and threads.
I am in some AMAZING and supportive online communities where folks are making a ton of progress and getting good mutual support between sessions. I truly hope you come to this space to share and receive support, strategy and general cheerleading and fun.
A few logistics:
- Slack is your primary point of access to Corva and Maria between sessions, as you do not have email access for gardening questions.
- If you’re looking for feedback from Corva or Maria specifically, please tag them (using @corva or @maria) to make sure they see your request.
- Please commit to checking into our Slack space 4-5 times per week. The more you participate, the more everyone gets from it.
- As with any new tech tool, Slack can take a bit of time to get familiar with, but once you do it’s great! If you’re hitting a bump around engagement or anything technical (or anything 🌷), please reach out to Corva or Maria. We want you to get ALL the benefits of Tree School!
